UN Development Programme
Committee Introduction
Welcome to the UN Development Programme! Established in 1965, the UNDP is the forefront of international cooperation and efforts to increase global development and equality. The UNDP focuses on sustainable economic goals, administering aid to developing countries, combatting poverty, and, in more recent years, attempting to mitigate and prevent future crises. The UNDP is the largest UN development agency, working with over 170 nations all over the globe. The UNDP works closely with governments of various nations to encourage political stability, human development, mitigation of environmental crises, and improving local capacity to aid in ongoing conflicts. In recent years, the UNDP has increased focus on current crises, such as working towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, improving urban developments amidst increased conurbation, and mitigating the effects of artificial intelligence. The UNDP offers delegates a unique experience to define the future of the world and human development and we are excited to see what you do.

Ainsley Joyce is a junior at Bellarmine Preparatory school and is beyond excited to serve as Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for BELLARMUN 2025! Ainsley began her Model UN career at BELLARMUN 2021 and was immediately infatuated with debate. Her favorite part about MUN is traveling all around the country and meeting new people! Outside of MUN, you can find Ainsley competing in cross country, cooking new recipes, or hanging out with friends. She also manages the BELLARMUN TikTok and Instagram accounts! Ainsley looks forward to meeting all delegates in committee and knows BELLARMUN 2025 will be the best iteration yet!

Chair
Nuala Crowley is a sophomore at Bellarmine and is excited to be Chair of UNDP in this iteration of BELLARMUN 2025. She herself got her start through BELLARMUN back in 7th grade. From the feeling when you pass a resolution to when you pass a public directive in a crisis, she has found mun as a fun way to solve problems and make an impact. Doing MUN has helped Nuala in so many different walks of life, whether it’s writing an essay in class, or speaking in front of an audience she has seen so much improvement. Outside of MUN she likes to go on walks with her dog and play golf with friends. She hopes that through BELLARMUN 2025 she will be able to help others find a love for MUN and break out of their shells, so the conference can be as successful and fun as possible.

Assistant Director
Isaac Opoku Jr. is a sophomore at Bellarmine and is excited to serve as Assistant Director of UNDP for BELLARMUN 2025. He was first introduced to Model UN through an introductory experience for middle school students at Annie Wright Schools in 2022. He began participating in Bellarmine’s Model UN program in 9th grade and realized how Model UN can make skills that may seem difficult and stressful, like collaborating with teammates and public speaking, fun and exciting. MUN has helped him gain a passion for topics like history and diplomacy, and also build on life skills that can be used in almost any profession. He enjoys getting to know new people through MUN and build connections that can last a lifetime. Outside of MUN, you can find Isaac listening to music, chilling out with friends, and watching sports. He can’t wait to meet BELLARMUN 2025’s delegates and help make Model UN something they enjoy and love participating in.
