General Assembly

 Association of Southeast Asian Nations

Committee Introduction

Welcome to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations! ASEAN is a regional organization that promotes political and economic cooperation among its member states. Founded in 1967, ASEAN serves to strengthen regional relations and promote progress and development. ASEAN’s motto is: “One Vision, One Identity, One Community;” a statement that unifies nations across one of the most diverse regions in the world. Delegates can anticipate debate targeting the region's most pressing issues and exploring the complexity of foreign relations through diplomatic dialogue. The association covers a wide range of topics that are vitally important to each countries’ prosperity. From security and trade, to environmental sustainability and health, ASEAN addresses challenges that impact the stability and prosperity of the region. You will have the opportunity to assume the role of one of these great nations and challenge the world’s current status quo.

  • Director

Carter Milliren is a junior and is beyond thrilled to be the Director for ASEAN at BELLARMUN 2025! This is Carter’s 5th BELLARMUN and loves being a part of this conference year after year. He vividly remembers being a middle schooler at BELLARMUN and creating his first speeches and resolutions. When not putting up Wilt-like numbers at Model UN conferences, Carter spends his time running Track and Cross Country, skiing and being in the mountains, watching baseball religiously, and going to concerts. Carter is so hyped for BELLARMUN 2025 and can’t wait to see all the amazing delegates thrive in the conference’s best committee!

Dais

  • Chair

Samantha Gobal is a sophomore and is super excited to be your BELLARMUN 2025 Chair of ASEAN. First introduced to MUN her freshman year, Samantha quickly came to enjoy learning not only about committee topics, but learning all the skills Model UN asks of its delegates. Outside of Model UN, Samantha swims, plays flag football, and volunteers as a student athletic trainer. She can’t wait for BELLARMUN 2025 and hopes it empowers new delegates just as her first conference empowered her!

  • Assistant Director

Carson Hodge is a junior who is chuffed-to-bits to be your Assistant Director for ASEAN at BELLARMUN 2025. Carson attended his first MUN conference in 8th grade, but truly fell in love with MUN his sophomore year. He loves most the quirky speeches, collaborative work, and the prime sense of humor found in Model UN. Carson spends his free time recording music, reading feminist literature, and out-swagging the rest of his peers. He is genuinely enthralled to spend a weekend helping new delegates transform into diplomats!
